Open cell rubber – truly adaptable

Open cell rubber is a material with a mixed cell structure formed from natural rubber or other elastomers, which is used for many applications such as sealing, die cutting material and vibration-free storage. The material properties can be altered easily by modifying the formula and production processes, making this material suitable for an exceptionally broad range of applications. The material is also watertight due to its closed outer skin.

We manufacture open cell rubber in eight qualities made from NR (natural rubber) and CR (chloroprene rubber) as well as NBR (nitrile rubber). The specific gravity of the products range between 0.40 g/cm³ and 1.0 g/cm³. Depending on its intended use, our open cell rubber offers, for example, increased safety in fires (self-extinguishing) or particular hardness.

  • High pressure elasticity/compressibility
  • Very elastic, good recovery
  • Good insulating properties
  • Processing flexibility
  • High abrasion resistance due to closed outer skin
  • Temperature and ageing resistant
  • Highly flame-retardant and oil-resistant (CR/NBR)
